WHY DO MILITARY PRESS?

With classic military press, you will mainly train:

  • anterior deltoid
  • intermediate deltoid
  • pecs (high part more engaged)

And secondly train:

  • back
  • abs
  • triceps
  • serratus anterior

This exercise can be better for people with long-limbed morphology than bench press exercise, but more dangerous.

The main focus of this training is the strength. So if you want to reach higher levels in endurance for the main muscles listed above (and if you have the right equipments), check the Pushups and Dips trainings or increase the number of reps and use lower weights.

/!\ Remember that it is extremely difficult to achieve very high levels in both strength and endurance and remember to be careful when using high weights.

We highly recommend to train as well the other parts of the body (by mixing force & endurance trainings) in order to avoid injuries due to an asymetrical body, especially when you do weight exercises. You can check the other classic trainings proposed here, by classicfit.org.
